What’s the point in sending a wink ? I’m struggling to understand lol is it meant as someone showing interest in you beyond just looking at your profile and wants to further their interests? Asking for a friend

Most people hate the concept of winks, but in their purest form I think they could have been one of Fabs most useful tools.

It could have been Fabs equivalent of “swiping right”

Surely the most effective use of everyone’s time would be to send an initial wink, and if that wink is reciprocated then at least both parties would know there’s a potential interest, and THEN it’s up to each of them to impress (or not) with their message.

However these days most people see winks as “lazy” and expect a bespoke work of prose to be sent to them, which invariably will be ignored if there’s no interest. As a result many people (usually men) whack out loads of copy and paste messages to save time whereas they might have written a more considered response had the initial wink system been used.

Just my 2p anyway, it’s too late for the system now. It’s already demonised and there’s no coming back. But if only everyone used them in the spirit they were intended they could have been awesome!

I find winks a waste of time as every wink I've responded to gets no answer and it just winds me up just message

A wink is a 'I like you'

I like them because I don't get any shit when deleting incompatible winkers...

I prefer a wink to a message. If I like their profile I’ll message them. Most of my inbox gets deleted.

You are absolutely correct with this.

Winks used this way can work perfectly, and I agree they are, or should be one of the next tools on here, though a lack of understanding and sometimes an element of high expectations of others, a wink often doesn't work.

We've had a couple of brilliant meets beginning with a wink, one we have returned and that prompted they to send an appalling message.

Here’s how a wink worked a couple of days ago. (And I take a lot more notice of winks because it holds a lot more weight than ‘looked at me!”)

A couple winked my profile so I checked them out. It was a very basic profile. But they looked nice and nothing put me off. But, I’m still not sure. So I winked back.

It struck up a conversation when they then got in touch. I take it as a way of saying, I like you, but not sure.

But don’t we all tead into things in here a little too much maybe? I dunno.

Amen, brother! And it's us fellas that bear the brunt - having to customise an initial message each and every time, only for it to go ignored

Winks are a waste of time as a lot of people send winks but then don't reply to any messages sent...prime example jessieash69 named and shamed sent a wink then no answer....why???
