Back in the day as a kid, I used

to love the Autumn season when the conkers dropped from the trees and I would pick my prize conker to do a friendly battle against my mates.

If I beat my mate in a conker battle it would be a oneses, next match a twoses and so on. If you get to the 5th battle unbeaten, everyone in school wanted to conker battle against you and smash the conker.

I just remember stinking out my parents kitchen with warm vinger, trying to strengthen and preserve my champion conker.

Anybody else did this?

Yes also clear nail varnish was good for coating it to make it stronger.
