Somewhere In The Ether…

…..you posted a letter?

I was just thinking earlier (I do this from time to time in fact) that I haven’t posted a physical letter in blooming years!

I even send all birthday wishes via email/apps/texts and all my bills/payments/communications are done ‘electronically’ to.

Nothing like the impersonal touch eh?

I had to post some stuff to the passport office yesterday. But that wasn't a letter, I guess.

I think the last time I wrote and sent a letter was probably to my nana and she died in 2015.

Late nineties, met a girl from Scotland on holiday and kept in touch for a while after. I was about 14/15 at the time

I can't remember, not on the last three years I don't think. I do write and post birthday and Christmas cards though.

My daughter and her best friend started writing letters to eachother over lockdown to give them something to look forward to

I thought it was really sweet.

Pxx

My handwriting which used to be beautiful has gone way downhill through lack of practice

I must admit that mine has always been terrible (‘Like a dying spider staggering across the page!’ as my English teacher used to observe) but it definitely, if humanly conceivable, has actually deteriorated even further(!!)

I’m going to take to scrawling in the dirt in order to communicate

I often write letters, sometimes I send them, then I get in trouble. Then my pens are taken away.

Last sent one about 5 months ago. I wrote a letter inside my grandmothers 90th birthday card. I send her a written update every year along with photos of the kids, as it's better than talking to her. She's not the easiest person to get on with and hasn't spoken to my mother (her daughter) in years
