Is it just me who thinks these types of messages are creepy as fuck, especially without face pics on your profile?

We haven't received one, although we did get a message asking us if we are so and so. We're not.

This thread prompts me to wonder how many times people are recognised without knowledge.

We’ve only had it once from a club night so it wasn’t too bad. If it was in Asda or something I’d be creeped out.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I've had it from when I was at a club. No idea why they couldn't just say hello there, as everyone else did.

If they'd seen me in drab mode and worked out who it was, then I'd be worried

There's not enough of me on show for anyone to recognise me in real life

OH actually that's a lie, I did get it once where it was me but it was someone I'd been talking to on a dating app so it was a bit different haha. Led to a pretty good time too

Solihull and Brentwood

Someone on another forum put out a thread. Asking if anyone had ever seen his wife.

I had, about 6 months earlier. They were both at a party, I was attending. I never said anything to either of them at the time.

When I replied on the forum, that I had seen them. He asked me a series of questions. Date, time venue, etc. Which I answered.

Then said I must have been mistaken. Er...nope. It was definitely them.

I think perhaps, I might have spooked him.

They know full well they ain't seen ya. If you respond with "no, it wasn't me" they've got an in.

"Oh my mistake, anyway, how are you? Do you have any plans the weekend?"

It's the initial response they're after as a foot in the door. Nothing more than a manipulative way of getting a response, and I say manipulative because they're lying and know they are.

Yes, there will be occasions where people really may have seen someone, but other than in a club or somewhere else deemed appropriate to start a conversation over, it's bad form to use it as a convo starter.

Yes... It's either in the pub or on the school run. Zero chance of either of those!
