Men can cry!

So this week i had to have a dog put to sleep, and i must admit it was a very strange feeling! The poor girl was suffering from lymphoma and had lost any interest in anything except food, so it was obvious she was suffering. I felt like it was the right thing to do but at the same time felt awful!

Now, i have always been one of those 'real men dont cry' types, but i am unashamed to admit that i blubbed!

To all out there who are like me, it really is ok to cry, you will feel so much better releasing the emotion!

Great post OP

I did a thread a while back and I feel like losing pets is one of the few things every guy on here said they cried over.

I have never understand the whole real men don't cry or show emotion logic.Of course they do and no one should be ashamed of it either.Bottling things up can be a lot more harmful to the person over time.

I hate the sayings real men don't cry or man up. They are toxic as far as I'm concerned. And the cause of a lot more issues than someone who shows emotions and feelings.

Hey OP I feel for you,now this is not taking away from your sadness at all but at the beginning of this year I was very very poorly in hospital and I was asked if I would want to be brought back if my heart stopped again ! I am 44 and my wife had given birth to our wonderful daughter!

(I said no,not if I won't be able to function fully)

That was hard man and I was alone because of COVID too !

I cant imagine being in that situation,must of been a very difficult decision to make....especially whilst on your own!

Had to do that a few months ago he had just passed his 12th birthday. It’s better so they don’t suffer but I suffered for a few days after and will admit probably the most I cried in my life

I dont cry anymore i wont do it again had enough of that 2 years ago im doing my best to purge emotion out of me now all it did was block my nose make me feel tired and make my eyes puffy like i had hey fever i still lost anyway

But thats just me

I'm really sorry about the dog OP.

If nothing else comes of it at least you had years of companionship and they were able to teach you one more life lesson in passing

I'm sorry for your loss. Our pets are our family and your grief is what makes you human.

People do cry, it's good to let it out and process it in a healthy way. Nobody else has the right to criticise your emotions and grieving process.

A few weeks ago we lost our 15 year old cat very suddenly and my 21y/o son and I spent at least half an hour crying on the kitchen floor with our furry ginger friend.

Still not over losing my bull dog two years ago. Was harder having him put down than what I went through losing my mother(fractious relationship)

I have his ashes in a massive sack in the house and can’t spread them at his favourite place as just don’t want to say goodbye.

Sounds silly but he was awesome.
