I'm trying to sort out a first passport for my son. Paid extra for the post-office to check I'd done it right. My friend, a retired post lady, counter signed as she had done for her sons passport a few months before. They sent me a letter today, I have to redo it all as they don't like my friend as a counter signer. WTF? Her sons friend has his passport but she can't sign for mine. I don't have anyone else who can do it

I didn’t know you needed a counter signer? Why is that needed?

I’d be kicking off and asking why

There’s no reason your friend can’t counter sign

They don’t like her as a counter signer…….could you be more specific please? The actual wording would be great

Assuming she was signing to say it was his likeness in the photo

Don’t you know any nurses, teachers or anyone who works for DWP or benefits officers?

Yes I'm surprised too. It says on the forms you can't countersign for a relative. Maybe that why she can't sign for you now?

You aren't allowed to counter sign a relative's passport so not sure how she got away with doing her son's. There's quite a range of people that can do it, might be worth looking online. Ask his dentist or Dr?

An employer might do. I did this for my driving licence photo renewal.

Is she a post person or a post mistress? If she's a person who delivers letters I don't think that's accepted.
