Is flicking worse than wiping it on the wallpaper? It's more likely to end up on your sock. But on the wallpaper it's more likely to dry and scratch you at some point. I think flicking is the lesser of two evils

I tend to flick at the lampshade in the corner of the room any misses are easily swept up in a month or two
