Reminds me of the time I was mistaken for Richard Gere whilst out shopping for sausages in Budgens…. Has anyone else been mistaken for an A List Hollywood celebrity?

Post your stories here…

I was chatting with David Keith, an actor from that movie, on a subway train in New York years ago. He'd asked me a question about something and recognised my accent as a result of him being a huge fan of Merseybeat. Anyways, during this conversation a local passenger shouted, "There's the guy out of that fucking movie with Richard Gere," and pointed over. Everybody looked in my direction and I started blathering while David Keith appeared nonplussed and waved at the guy.

As you can tell, my Saturday evening may be lacking.

I get told with regularly that I look like Johnny Cash, or Bryan Ferry, even Elvis depending on the way that I style my hair, although the Elvis lookalike did get a bit monotonous in Gran Canaria a while back, and it's had it's drawbacks at the annual Elvis festival in Porthcawl with the odd Neanderthal looking to pick a fight because they think I'm some kind of poser when in fact I look like this all the time. The Johnny Cash lookalike did produce a result in Lanzarote though when a lovely Irish lady thought that I was the guy who played Johnny Cash in the bio pic, "Walk the line," about his life. She sent her daughter over to ask if it was me. Thinking on my feet I said that I was Joaquin Phoenix the actor, however it's not my voice because I couldn't master the American accent, and they swallowed the whole story, and took photos with me.

Looking like 3 people (all singers) is some going! Hopefully you look like a younger Elvis rather than his Vegas days!

When I was younger it was either Val Kilmer or Steve Norman (sax player from Spandau Ballet).

Admittedly I still look a bit like fat Val Kilmer

He's never been mentioned in dispatches, but I actually like his style and music. Funny enough there is another thread running on here requesting men who like to dance from a lady asking for a guy to teach her a few steps. If she had been closer I would have been inviting her for jiving practice, and she could have told you whether I come close to Shakin' Stevens xx

...light bulb moment... To the commissioning editor.. Michael portillo tours the world learning obscure national dances... You know its got Dave all over it.

Once when I was in Knightsbridge a man asked for my autograph and took my picture! I said who do you think I am ? Turns out I'm a dead ringer for Nigella . ......... ( licks finger - looks seductively at other bare faced liars )

If you haven’t seen it, ‘About last night’ starring a young Demi Moore, Rob Lowe and Jim Belushi is an absolute 80s classic….
