Believe most, if not all, birds can’t expel gas form either end, that’s why if you give them an alka seltzer they can literally explode.

All bird's use thermals to gain extra lift, so it would make perfect sense for pidgeons to let out rip rap roarers, and arse hole tearers, then with that extra current of warm air, they would be the wind beneath their own wings.
