Future of The Monarchy

Very early days yet.

But do people think having a King as head of State will have a big effect on the future of the Monarchy.

The Queen having been in place for so long must have been embedded in the minds of her subjects and become a part for many of what they feel they are and identify with.

It's a very big position to fill for anybody in an ever changing world.

Time will tell.

People liked the Queen.

Doesn't follow that they will take to Charles in the same way.

The monarchy will remain for now but it’s role will change , Charles seems a decent man, I think he will be the one to ‘modernise ‘ it

I think we will all be filling out cars up with surplus English white wine very shortly!

But in seriousness. Charles is a great believer in conservation and preservation of wildlife and renewable energy. Potentially he could apply some subtle pressure to force government into more green alternatives as well as encouraging the growth of our native species.

It would take parliament deciding to do away with the monarchy. I can't honestly see it getting much traction there.

So many on my timeline wanting Charles to step aside for William. Either respect the tradition of succession or get rid of the Monarchy altogether. He’s the heir, love or loathe him it’s not a popularity contest.

The British public seem to have a weird need to be subjugated. And also very short memories regarding the role of the monarchy worldwide.

I'd like to see them scrapped, but I don't think that'll be happening any time soon.

It makes no difference who's on the throne as it has no impact on the country going forward. Ultimately they just need someone who is respected so the public still support them in some regard.

So if we got rid of them, we'd need a head of state.

And the head of state would have to be voted for by the public.

The British public have a fucking appalling voting record recently.

So better the devil you know and all that.

Charles is more than ready to take over his mothers mantle i dont envisage much change other than a slight modernisation , the biggest and most radical changes to the monarchy will come when William becomes king
