The famous quote " be a maid in the living room, a cook in the kitchen and a whore in the bedroom."

Irrespective of gender.. who thinks this is still a good mantra?

or is it outdated?

No really but I do agree on this one though :

Beauty without wit offers nothing but the enjoyment of its material charms, whilst witty ugliness captivates by the charms of the mind, and at last fulfils all the desires of the man it has captivated.

It's outdated and more than a tad misogynistic

Of course it’s outdated. It’s more open plan living nowadays.

Sounds as if 'plumping cushions' is a euphemism for something

Some people are happy for it to be that way. Though both doing all 3 seems pretty fair to me!

No. I can share maid and cook duties and I don't want to have sex with a partner if she's only in it for the money.
