"Fun fact: the band Marillion took their name from The Silmarillion." Fun fact, they used the full name until the Tolkien estate got upset, so they shortened it

"The Silmarillion is a hard read. Didn't enjoy it anywhere nearly as much as "The Hobbit" or LOTR." It’s not meant to be a narrative story like LOTR more of a creation myth and mythology of the middle earth ages. It’s best read in smaller sections giving you time to fully understand the mythology. Rather than treating it as a novel that has to be read end to end with little breaks in between chapters….

"Galadriel is annoying as fuck. I only mildly enjoyed the parts she wasn't in tbh. Feels like a kids' movie. " A complex character turned in to a one dimensional character focused on nothing but vengeance - at a time in her life when she was actually very happy while leading and travelling around various parts of Middle earth with her husband. Not until Sauron returned did she become his main resistance.

"The last episode was a LOT better " Was it though? Still has absolutely terrible writing. I can easily rip apart everything wrong with the writing alone, never mind the acting, set design, fight and battle choreography, respect to the lore and actual writings of Tolkien, big issues and small, from the first episode to this one. Desa and Durin are the only two who get a pass on being semi decent. But still issues. Not a single scene would go unchallenged. Remember that scene in the very first episode, of Galadriel stacking up all those helmets? That is actually a metaphor for the show and all its little mistakes and problems growing and growing.

They just changed poor exposition and a plot that dragged along going nowhere, doing the worst sin a TV show can do by telling us everything but not showing it (rule 1 in TV, show, don't telll). Then instead we got an uninteresting, illogical, and poorly choreographed battle. Teleporting horses, the same disregard for time and distance we have seen previously. And even more forced romance shippong between the most dislikable lead character I've ever seen and Sauragorn of Angmar the maybe red herring. A bit of action does not hide the issues the show has and continues to have. On the plus side we didn't get any Dirty little Sociopaths this week with Offbrandalf, though.

" I agree half a billion dollar project, and they employed crap writers, as well as chasing the woke agenda, girl bosses everywhere, Galadriel ok she’s annoying and bratty for a 2,000 year old elf, Bronwyn oh come on really? She’s not a realistic leader/hero. I like Durin and Desa too, not wooden like some other characters, then the writers make up a jackanory about the origins of mithril, embarrassing. And the hobbits, our hearts are bigger than our feet, but if you fall behind you’re on your own and dead meat lol

And the hobbits, our hearts are bigger than our feet, but if you fall behind you’re on your own and dead meat lol " The "woke" stuff doesn't bother me for the most part, except when it takes place over logic, respect for Tolkien and story itself. Which is quite a bit to be fair but it is my lesser issue with things. The "woke" stuff could still be done in much better ways. Galadriel should be amazing, lead character and a wise and powerful woman. Yet in their ham-fisted way they have to make her insufferable to show how strong and independent she is changing important parts of who she is, things that should have happened long before the events of the second age - her husband and daughter first and for most. They downplay the might and power of Numenor to make her look better. Gil'galad looks like an idiot and a slimey politician so that Galadriel can be right. The writers genuinely expect her to be liked, as you can tell by the way they frame her through people looking at her in awe.
