Animal rebellion

A group called animal rebellion has broken into a dairy and drilled holes in over 200 truck tyres as a milk protest.

They immobilised the vehicles and caused over £80,000 of damage.

I think that this type of protest is getting out of hand.

What are your thoughts?

surrounded by twinkly lights

Criminal damage and unlawful protest is policed though and arrests are made. Same as with the trail hunts who only hunt humans but are still targeted.

Some people unfortunately enjoy breaking stuff

A town near you

It often seems these protesters are middle class or toffs. Perhaps rebelling against mummy n daddy before going off to uni.

Working class people prob have to many other issues to worry about

Some good points here. I think that it is likely that government will bring in knee jerk legislation that might affect people who protest peacefully.

I wonder how these vandals will get on if Muller were to sue them for compensation for damages and loss of revenue due to their actions?

Nobel cause, poor execution

You’ve ruined the year for a few farmers trying to make a living

You don’t make change through terrorising then public

And yes, in my book, this is terrorism. They are using violence and fear to push an agenda

I think they can probably expect the farms to start to defend themselves if this carries on. R v Martin springs to mind.

They need a good beating to straighten them out ideally.

Thankfully they will get charged for criminal damage and aquire nice criminal records. Hopefully some will lose their jobs as they get called out to bosses for being criminals

Being a farmer already means you are more risk of developing mental ill health and suicide. These idiots never seem to think of the consequences of their actions.

Well, between them a a bud extinction rebellion, all they achieve is pissing off normal people who just want to get on with their daily lives and make an honest living.

When someone mentions climate or animal rights, the first thing that enters peoples mind are activists. This makes people dismissive of their actual cause, so I believe they are doing more harm than good.

Now I’m not an advocate of violence, but I feel that this new wave of activism is going to end badly when these people target the wrong person. Not everyone lives in their privileged world and has time to protest, and vandalise property, they are busy trying to make ends meet.

Violence totally is a rational response if people are trashing your property .. fear is something these insects need to learn in life at some point .

I’d leave them there, imagine having they’d free themselves after listening to the hot air spouted in there!

Just an update, the 11 who were arrested have been released on police bail pending further investigation. They caught them red handed. They even posted their videos of themselves in the act on face book. What more needs investigating?

From looking at news reports and photographs of the various rebellion movements quite a lot of them would not be considered young. Genuinely though I can't keep up what we are meant to be Rebelling about anymore.

Not just the youth, from what I heard. There’s a fair few of the older generation amongst the rebels!

Errr I'm not sure the youth are rebellious at all. Not compared to the 60s and 70s. They've been beaten into submission. It's a shame.

I think of the women's suffrage movement when things like this happen. They chained themselves to railings and were civilly disobedient. I have to say I would have supported them which probably makes me hypocritical

Yes, but were they vandals? I think damaging lorries and chaining yourself to a fence are very different.

The Suffragettes targeted infrastructure, Govt, churches, and the general public. The movement saw the use of letter bombs, IEDs, arson, assassination attempts and various other direct action and violence committed.

Animal Rebellion is just another offshoot of Extinction Rebellion which I've heard is known as an apocalyptic cult.

What they're doing is not a protest. It's an attack on how we live lives and they need to be stopped.

When decades of peaceful protest go unanswered, and the requests for equality are ignored, where do you turn? What other methods do you have at your disposal other than to make yourself heard through physical means?

The Suffragettes are considered to be heroes for their deeds, and what it lead to. Would you voluntarily give up those rights, which were hard fought for by the movement?

My history isn't great but from what I've read, yes they were at times criminals, vandals and I believe bombers? Maybe wrong on the last one... I'm sure someone will correct me. Nelson Mandela was a terrorist but is now knighted... History is littered with "heroes" who at the time were doing a lot more than gluing their face to tarmac.

Oooh the way we live our lives... Now there's an interesting concept. Most of us sleep walk through the impact we have on eachother the way we live our lives.. Most people resist change...
