"Good news on removing the dates on fresh produce in supermarkets! Not just because it makes my job a little easier! But will help reduce so much waste x It’s great! Sadly we’ve all been brainwashed in to believing we can’t use common sense to tell when something is unsafe to eat " Exactly yes! My kids are dreadful if something Is out of date by 1 day they think it shd b binned! I say how is getting to midnight affecting that chicken etc in fridge! Noticed today whilst picking more and more is without dates! Obvs check for quality but did that with dated stuff anyway x

"How will this work for what gets marked down at the end of the day? " Not sure on that? Stuff like strawberrys etc that perish quicker are still dated! Don't know if they will stay so! But most produce has a quick turn around not on shelf long enough x

"Just received my Sainsbury's online shopping and most of my fresh foods chicken, fish, meat's are all within 4 days of sell by date, I can't possibly eat all of it so have to now freeze fresh produce, of course other food stuffs are easy such as fruit, veg etc, but I wouldn't risk fish and meat." I shop on line at sainsburys and tbf we pick the longest date on shelf (or shd do) we do get daily checks on this ! Anything with today or tomoz date we have to short life on handset but stuff like strawberrys blue berry's etc they never long dates x
