Best thing to do is make them short and sweet and to the point of what you are actually looking for on fab...

I've came across several this last while of essays which to me is ridiculous...

People don't wanna hear the 101 things your gonna do to them in your bio make it a topic of conversation when yous get chatting....talk to them as you would a complete stranger and with respect it goes along way...

Anyone any inputs that may help others when setting up a profile whether it as a single person or couple profile ...??

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a little detail, room to define your traits and demonstrate desires.

It's always a case of horses for different tracks that suit them best... or something along those lines. Brevity is the soul of making a good joke that really hits home.

Surely a profile is as succinct or verbose as needs to be, reflecting the interests and personality (personalities, inclusiveness for schizophrenics) of that person .

Sure some are TLDR, but that’s the choice of the individual

I re-wrote mine a few days ago. Its a difficult balance.

Obviously you need to include some details but trying to... not sound like a bell-end can be quite difficult!

Yep. Do what you want and let others do the same.

You want short? Go for it. If others want yo write essays? All good.

If people get bored when reading longer profiles then that tells a lot.

Personally I don't think anyone should dictate what other people put on their profile.

If somebody specifically asks for advice I will give it other than that I just don't think it's my place. If someone's profile is not for me I just move on.

Yes . Try not to make them inconsistent . So many times you see things like looking for (MM ) and then below it says str8. Or looking for F and FF yet they approach an MF couple . If you cant manage to handle a profile , how on earth do you expect to manage handling a partner

Definitely a good point.

And if your sexuality evolves over time just make sure you check you've updated the changes throughout. There's a few tabs to remember but it's easy to miss something.

Simple enough

My profile started out a short paragraph.

I've gone back and added or deleted here and there as I got comfortable sharing and as I maybe was asked something often enough.

It's an honest reflection of me and why I'm here, if they don't like it and have no interest in reading it, then they aren't interested in me beyond the pics of my ass and ultimately won't like me myself the human being. Helpful all the way around if they can decide that themselves before they waste their time texting me.

Anyone that starts an intro text by slagging off my profile gets binned for all of the above

I think profiles should be like newspaper articles, and I write mine accordingly. Most important at the top, least important at the bottom.

So if people want to keep reading my "essay" (if I return to having an essay), they can, but those who don't still get the most important points.

In my case: my filters are high. I'm not meeting. Some preferences. Some joking.

Mine is normally significantly longer than it currently is, and works for me - the best filter I've found so far!

At the end of the day, Fabs is unique to every one of us on here, and profiles reflect how it works for each of us. You don't want to read an essay, move on to the next profile... simples!

First off, your profile, so long, so wordy, much unnecessary.

Do whatever makes you happy. Going to write a wankfest of pretension to rival Joyce? Great.

Want to put an enigmatic "?". Perfect. Maybe the sort of people who are compatible with you will ponder how interesting and vague you are and want to find out more.

Don't do a dreary fora identikit profile. You'll never please everyone so might as well make yourself happy.

Absolutely.

The thing I've learned is that profiles help me get a sense of other people. So I try to make my profile (when meeting) informative, because it'll help those who read it.

The other thing I've learned is most people don't read full profiles, so put most pertinent information up front, and be prepared to repeat yourself.

What's the point in giving profile advice?

All you end up with is a site full of generic box-ticking profiles that should have a list of credits acknowledging everyone who contributed.

For every person who wants to read short profiles there are two who want more details.

For every profile that says no dick pics are three that insist on them.

No point creating a profile you can't stand over and maintain yourself.

Hope that helps.

I’m the same.

Plus, not everyone is the same. Plenty of people do read longer profiles - I’ve had plenty of meets with guys who had clearly read mine (or couples who’d read my couples profile). So it works for me and others.

Those it doesn’t work for should just hit the back button, instead of expecting others to tailor their profiles to someone else’s likes.

Somewhere in Co. Down

Short and sweet like 'fill in later', 'looking for fun', 'horny up for anything ' nah I'll pass on any like that .

I prefer a profile that gives me an idea of the person and that they have made an effort so I can get a rough idea of what they want from fab. Short profiles don't appeal to me and I will usually just move on past them .

But this just shows that all the advice people can give others on here about their profiles is pointless because everyone is different in what appeals to them. So just write what you want on yours and post whatever pics you want as well.
