Great Wyrley

So, that dilemma when doing the washing…..

You’re putting a whites wash on and you got a garment of clothing that’s about 70% white but the other 30% is coloured. (In this case a short sleeved shirt white with a dark blue part).

You do the ‘do I put it in the whites or do I put it in the darks?’ thought process and even consider washing on its own wash.

Me being the bloke I am thought ‘it’ll be alreet’ and put it I; the whites.

Fuck……..

Now all the whites have a light shade of blue ffs

Should have put a colour catcher in? Yup but I’d run out.

Fucking washing………..

That’ll teach me!

Probably not the best cost save method but when it comes to things like that

Run it though the washer by it’s self

Put the whites on

The the colours on

Then run that one though on its own

You might have accidentally been a domestic genius, blue-White usually looks whiter than plain white.

I learned from my mum how to separate laundry.

Any items with a dark colour on go in together.

Aye, normally that’s what I would do if I had enough items to make a full wash

Normally the older something is the less likely it is to bleed colour. However the hotter the wash the more likely it is to bleed

I’ll have a butchers at that in the supermarket tomorrow when I go to get some more colour catchers

I think for today, after I’ve finished the other stuff I’ll pop all the whites back in the washer with a bit of bleach and some sodium bicarbonate and a little detergent and pause the wash and let it soak overnight and see what happens

It's a possibility because the clothes will be laying on top of each other and folded so the bleach won't distribute evenly.

What chemical reaction does bleach and bicarbonate of soda have?

Colour catcher in future but I don't trust brad new stuff even with colour catcher to be honest. Problem with putting it in a dark wash is that you could make the white bits grey. Agree with the napisan comment, it's amazing stuff. Fresh air, rain and sunshine are also good for saving whites.

I think the bicarbonate helps oxygenate the water so it gets into all the fibres.

Might be better putting them in the bath to soak with the bleach and bicarbonate.

How about just washing them in the washing machine not soaking?

Bath sounds good too.

I feel your pain
