I wonder if the people who run Balckberry Messenger can understand the messages sent over the BB network now all the kids have switched from FB to BB. (my daughter and nearly every kid in her school are on BB cos it's free and doesn't eat up text limits.)

my teenage cousin added me to her BB, oh good lord! I swear it was Klingon they were speaking - I'm not up with the BB speak, so I had to delete her for fear of embarrassing myself!

I'm convinced that's why the kids have switched to it. My daughter used to get mad at me for editing her FB messages if she swore online. She never used the 'f' word directly but I knew what she was saying. Now I don't have a scooby what she's on about.

the little buggers use the same language, whether its blackberry or any other phone - I give up deciphering some of my cousins messages on facebook!

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

You should always use the appropriate language for the appropriate type of writing. Text speak is appropriate when texting only. Casual messaging is appropriate when casually contacting people via email, forums or general site messages.

The two are completely different ways of writing.
