A million is about enough to stay where we are and live comfortably. We'd need to divide half between our children to give them a deposit on a house and some hope bof having an affordable mortgage

If we had a million quid we'd divide what was left after we'd give half to our kids by the number of years we expect live and get on with enjoying it.

When the op mentioned millionaire, are we talking £1M or a £3M? Either way, I'm off to live in a warmer climate, have a PT and I'd be quite happy with a nice little villa and a nice car.

I suspect quite a lot of us are millionaires with assets totalled up but that is a bit different to having a million in cash floating about. I think a million spare to invest would probably be just about enough to live on moderately and carefully with out having to work.

I think just 1 million wouldn't be enough to really retire on at my age, however, I'd personally reinvest half Into property to set myself up for retirement, maybe buy ten houses so I have an income and the id use 100k to buy and restore then sell on houses, anything over the 100k returned would be banked and keep it always at 100k.

Then 400k would by me a nice house and a nice car in a quite village somewhere and not really have to worry about anything much again

The issue isn't what id do,it's how I get the million lol.

It would be nice. Would give me the opportunity to help out family and friends, go travelling, learn to drive and buy a car, and have the freedom to know I have a financial cushion to allow me quit work and to retrain in a different sector.
