Any one else in a career they used to love but now dread getting up to go into work. And at 37 I think it’s to late to change my career has any one made the jump to a new start at a later age ?

It's never too late for change.

This ^^^

... if you can retrain in your spare time or in the background of your current job... never too late, especially if you've got another 20 years ahead of you???

Used to work for a PLC all about the bottom line, such a stressful, uncaring environment, when I started is was a family run business great to work for, then got bought by a national company, went from a great jobs to the shits.

I left at 35 and moved to work full time for a charity, no pressure and doing some good, best thing I ever did!

Agreed. I changed my career at 45, totally love my job now and couldn't be happier.

It's never too late. I went to uni to do a Masters at 46, whilst bringing up 3 children and holding down a job. Never too late to learn and do something more challenging and exciting.

Struggling in my current job, tried to progress up the career ladder but just feel I'm being held back.

Sunniest Exeter...

Work takes up far to much of our lives to be miserable. (I get bills need to be paid) Never too late to retrain (I moved jobs at 40 and really love where I am now)

You have to (at least a little) enjoy your job, you can always put feelers out to see about moving role, without committing to anything!

Good luck!

Worthing

Working in an I.T. office became stressful until I went freelance. It was not the work itself but the people. They were decent enough but could not plan things right. You had non-technical people managing technical projects. Maybe change the environment you work in might be a good move.

Yes. The pandemic has changed my perspective and driving 50 miles a day I now see as a big part of the day wasted.

Currently in the process of applying for jobs closer to home and across a range of fields. I'm 40 so thinking it's now or never. Only ever had two jobs.

Not me but a friend worked in IT/engineering in an aircraft factory for 25 years, absolutely hated it....but bills and length of service, etc. kept him there.

He was absolutely miserable right up to the point they laid him off.

Ended up working in a guitar shop and honestly he's a different guy, so full of life and energy now.

Goes to show money isn't everything.

Personally I hate my job with a passion but the money's good!

It's never too late to change career and you'd be amazed at the transferable skills you will bring to the table!

I got a new permanent job in May but unfortunately it didn't work out due to the commuting. I bitterly regret leaving it though as I loved the job. I'm temping again until I find another permanent position. It's never too late to find something you truly want to do no matter how old you are x
