Has anyone built their own web site? How did you go about it and was it easy to do?

Did you have one designed and built for you? Was that simple and roughly how much was it?

Any advice gratefully accepted.

I am thinking of starting a web based business...

I think most people could make a pretty good Web site with very little trouble these days. There are a great deal of great programs that will do the job.

If you want an e-commerce site, take a look at the deal on with 1&1 internet. With a few clicks you can set up a pretty convincing site. Of course, there will be those with a vested interest that will tell you different, but remember, they ususally have to earn a living doing the job!

I would say, before spending what can turn out to be thousands on a project like this, have a go yourself and see if your results are what you want! If not, then go to someone who specialises.

E-commerce but funded mainly by companies paying to advertised. It will be for a specific industry though rather than of general public interest.

Thank you, I have looked at 1&1 but was not sure about them. I'll have another look now.

I learnt via online tutorials like webmonkey and used FrontPage software for mine. Not too difficult to do, just needed time and patience.
