Of moving back oooop norf. Not right now. Maybe next year/year after.

Yes I bought a place last year literally 5 miles from where I grew up to age 18. In between I lived in Cambridge, London and various other countries. But up here I can live a good quality of life , property is cheap , good restaurants , transport and work no longer matters , you can work for companies in London or Dubai and don’t need to live there anymore

After spending a week in the Lake District, seeing how cheap property is, how nice everyone was, and how beautiful it was, I seriously considered moving up north so this thread is of good interest

I’d say just do it, unless something big like work/family is holding you back.

People are being priced out of south England and with a big WFH movement lots are choosing to go north. It won’t stay cheap forever

I moved half a lifetime ago from the Midlands to the North East. I would never go back.

We have coastline, countryside of all descriptions and a great city (Newcastle) all within an hour by car.

By the way, before I moved to Teesside I thought that Sheffield was in the North. Now I know that the M62 is an unofficial border…

I moved from the south to the north and much as I miss where I grew up at times and friends and family I don't think I'd move back. For one it's way too expensive that was the main reason for me moving up here. Plus I love it up here as well.
