Are you all of the things the younger men think you are? Experienced, know what you want, confident, sexy.

What word do you prefer to be labelled with, if any?

I do like younger men for various reasons but I do get a teensy bit frustrated at the stereotypes and the number of threads about us.

I know most of the threads are aimed at mature women but there's a misconception on here that age equals experience or confidence.

The majority of women I've spoken to in 5 years are not experienced or confident and I joined here aged 52 with the experience level of a monk.

Those misconceptions make a lot of people feel they're lacking, don't they? I've spoken to men in their thirties who feel terrible that they're not "experienced". And compare themselves to me. But I feel equally lacking in several respects.

Lack of experience isn't something anyone should feel bad about.

There are many explanations including conditioning and/or circumstances so it's not something anyone should be ashamed of.

Would you be able to describe why you are into younger men without sounding stereotypical? ...I prefer (mentally) mature women and that usually is related to age, but I have met plenty of women in their 20s and 30s that had the maturity I was craving for, and met some women in their 40s and 50s who were incredibly immature. What is it about young men that attracts you other than their youth, fitness, looks?

The expectations that younger men have are part of what stops me from meeting them.

What does 'they know what they want and how to get it' mean? I know if I want to get a tin of baked beans to go into a shop that sells them. I know what I want sexually but I have only a basic idea of how to get that from a relative stranger. I don't want a guy to turn up and wait for instructions there needs to be some input from him.

Yes, I would. But you seem to be making assumptions already about why I am attracted? Men my age can also be good looking and fit, you know.

My attitude to life gels better with younger men. I've noticed it more as I get older than many guys in their fifties have a very different ethos than I do.

Woman works for me too, we are all individuals.

I’ve had people remark I’m not really mature as in I have quite a young outlook/attitude to things.

I’ve never really been one for older men, tended more towards younger guys, but prefer women closer in age to me. Mainly as that’s who I get along best with on a social level and that makes anything else work better too in my experience.

Talking of which when I started fabbing I was really quite inexperienced sexually, having been only in long term relationships beforehand mainly my marriage and I’d married quite young. So despite being 40ish at that time I wasn’t really fitting the stereotype of experienced older woman.

Fab has of course changed that somewhat and I’ve discovered things about myself and what I enjoy sexually that have surprised and even shocked me!

There’s also been an element of having to “unlearn” the conditioning of being a woman in a patriarchal society where women being sexually confident, even proactive is still very stigmatised. Haven’t totally succeeded there yet but I'm getting there.

That’s also contributed to building/rebuilding confidence fab has been amazing for that, not only the flattery from those potentially interested in meeting me but also the platonic friends I’ve met during my time here.

Ex did a number on me confidence wise and fab has undone a lot of damage there - not an uncommon experience for women on fab I’ve noticed.

But I have parts of myself physically and emotionally that I’m still self conscious about and less confident in, but then I think everyone does, male, female, trans, everyone has things they worry about.

I am not a stereotype or a cliche I don’t fit in a box, but then I don’t believe anyone does.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

I'm not mature, I laugh at farts and jokes about poop.

I'm not confident, I'm terrified and certain of rejection and ridicule.

And as for experienced, well, yes. I have a lot of experience. I've had a lot of experiences, as I've lived quite a while and done quite a lot of stuff. But not necessarily sexual stuff. And I wouldn't wish a lot of my experiences on anyone.

The idea of a sexually assertive, confident older woman is something that boys are into. Men understand that age has nothing to do with those things for a lot of people.

It’s just a case of us being more specific. It’s ok me saying Yh I love women, but if I wanted to be more specific I’d say I prefer older women, some people may use the word mature. Everyone’s categorised or stereotyped one way or another.

Great post, thank you. FWIW I was very similar having left a LTR which I entered having little experience of men. "

I was very gun shy!

I actually came to fab upon the recommendation of someone from another hook up site that wasn’t really working for me. I knew I didn’t want a relationship but I did want some fun and quite honestly a wee ego boost!

Fab has unexpectedly led to not only amazing sexual experiences but also some truly lovely friendships.

Mature makes me think of Cheddar cheese, and I'm sure that's not the vision supposed to be conjured up!

You can call me whatever you want, as long as it's nothing nasty. I really don't go for all the neo-feminist stuff, and can quote you the Offside Rule, so as long as everyone's having fun and being respectful, I'm happy to be called anything.

"I apologise as I once wrote a thread and used the word ‘cougar’ only because I wasn’t sure the ‘rules’ of how someone became one…. my intention wasn’t to stereotype or label I was just curious on how the label became attached

I don't see that you need to apologise? Its not a label I relate to as I'm not predatory but some women like it. Older women seems safest based on this thread!"

I took that on board

I'd never label them as mature because of how it can be construed but I do think older women carry themselves with more confidence and a better idea of what they want. Whether that's their personality or experience that made them more decisive but it's much easier to guage interest with in my opinion.

Good point, but thought it would be rude to say "much older, twice my age women"
