In this country have we really become so helpless that we really need an 'expert' to be wheeled out in front of the cameras to give advice on what people should save first in the event of flooding??

Apart from the fact that it is personal choice, do we need someone to suggest that it may be best to save valuable or items of a sentimental nature first before making a grab for a 3 years old pair of slippers and a Val Doonican LP???

Harumph.

If anything that's far more a reflection of crap journalism than a nanny state.

People just aren't responsible for themselves anymore. Constantly blaming others. No doubt someone will sue the 'expert' for not suggesting they save their Val Doonican LP...

I think it is not just here... there is a bit of a trend towards blaming others which has as the reverse side others telling us what to do...

I blame DFS for not making floating carpets. It would have appeased the Ali Baba's of the world as they have magic carpets woven into their folklore but Aunt Flo from flooded out Falmouth would probably have settled for some pretty resilient lino. Fookin DFS. Assholes.

Agreed. It's the curse of 24 hours news channels where they have to fill time. How many times have we had to listen to speculation, rumour and 'experts' stating the bleeding obvious.

There seems to be a lack of personal responsibility these days. All this grousing cause folk can't get insurance for their riverside cottage, or house on 'pond lane' that for some reason has dates carved at different heights up the outside of the walls.
