Discussing carrots is often so much more satisfying than reading some other threads lately. Especially those that quite obviously intend to provoke and provide nothing more than self gratification. Back to carrots, what do you think about the little chantenay ones?

Carrots are actually fictional. They were made up by Loony Toons for Bugs Bunny. The things you buy in supermarkets are just genetically modified parsnips.

I bought several sacks of them I the last few months from the local farm. They put them at the bottom of the road next to a money box and were only £1.50 for a whole sack. I made several carrot cakes, soups and even a carrot jam that someone recommended thinking it will be weird but it's absolutely gorgeous

I've never grown in a pot but too rich soil leads to the stumpy ones with multiple roots as all the nutrients are close to surface. An average multi compost probably isn't that rich after a few weeks.
