A good roast deserves some mush. Carrot and swede. Even just mash. We had mushy peas though known locally as soaked peas. A nightmare to cook though.

These days I either, if I can be bothered, cook lentils or pease pudding. Delicious with the batter pudding

But I get annoyed if I'm paying the current price for an eat-in fish and chips and they bring me some sort of crushed or pureed pea nonsense when the menu says mushy.
