my neighbours, people who should know better , but the Karaoke and d*unkeness , shouting in the garden at 4 am in the morning , starting to get on my nerves ..

Question is , should I get revenge , by mowing the lawn at 7 am next morning and revving my car , or confront them and risk an escalation with me punching the chap , or call the cops , all options open ....

Or just calmly talk to them?

What makes you think they should know better?

Be more inclined to speak to them calmly and ask them to consider you’re neighbours

Failing that no point calling cops might turn up eventually

If all else fails

Punch in chops normally works

I have a noisy neighbour so I know how it feels. Not as bad as yours OP but it's still bloody annoying when I hear nothing but banging and clattering about at nigh. Pain in the ass when you're about to go to bed or getting woken up by it

I can’t say I’ve ever been punched by a man who uses the word “chap” so I’m inclined to believe that punching people isn’t something you usually do. The best thing to do is get some cans of Stella and go and join them.

We operate a system where Becky asks nicely once, then sternly once, and then I bust in and threaten to beat the living daylights out of everyone. Works every time.

Why do you say they should know better? Other than the fact that any normal person should realise the effect their actions have on others .

I ask because. If you think they are otherwise reasonable, and not morons , then surely having a chat is the best option. If they ARE morons , then other options are available ; )

My neighbours use to be annoying twats, until I went round one evening after a very hard day and a few wines.

Very quiet since.

Talking sternly and a little bit of sarcastic sass works a treat.

Chams or Socials

I’d be annoyed I didn’t get an invite!! We always let our neighbours know if we’re having a party (very rare these days).

T is a very early bird & would have no issue with mowing & strimming at 7am to try & annoy them although they would probably be in such a deep sleep they wouldn’t know

Talk to them. If you can’t talk to them, write them a polite letter and keep a copy.

If things escalate or get worse then send a letter to the relevant department at your council, with a copy of the letter you sent to the neighbours.

Document every nuisance incident in a diary and take any damage to your property, because they will ask for evidence etc.

Well they seem respectable hard working people like most people round here, most of the time, then this happens... I think a firm word first...

I was annoying a neighbour without realising it , I'd put up wooden wind chimes. Turns out a neighbour working nights was being driven bonkers by them.

I found out, when a note was pushed through my door. I removed the chimes of course, but I'd have preferred if they'd have asked face to face.

Call the police. That's bang out of order.

We are very lucky and have very peaceful elderly neighbor's. I would be tormented if we had bad neighbor's. Get them sorted, nobody deserves to live like that

I've had the same and it ain't good. I agree with the above..and speak to the Environmental Health department...they can deal with the matter and your neighbors won't get to know it's you who has contacted them. Maybe other neighbors have already contacted that department. Good luck.

Ok… what did I do when I had this a few years ago.

I had a tow bar on my car at the time. I occasionally reversed into his leaving dents.

I stole his bin.

I don’t sound very nice

"Go and join them!!! "

Yes, become the annoying neighbour.

Each time they do this, go out, insist on joining them, and if no invite just keep talking to them over the fence.

They'll soon stay in to avoid you.

shits creek

If it's a regular thing then talk to them.

If it's once in a blue moon, whack some ear plugs in.

There's every chance you do stuff that gets under their skin but they bite their lip coz it might not happen very often.
