I’ve just received one of the home test kits. I wasn’t going to bother but your post has made me change my mind. Thank you OP, and best wishes.

That’s such great news!! Mr lost his dad to bowel cancer, you’ve been incredibly lucky.

I had a colonoscopy about 10 years go - which showed two tiny polyps. Apparently they were so tiny - they didn't need removing.

After a few toilet related "PROBLEMS" and receiving the home test kit - I received the news no one really wants to hear. and was sent immediately for another colonoscopy.

I lost my mum to bowel cancer and my dad to bladder cancer - so the first thing my brain does is think negative.

However; research and treatments have improved so much more than they were when I lost my Mum in 1998 and my dad didn't get diagnosed until he was as stage 2 metastatic.

I'm due to go for surgery within the next 3 weeks with everything crossed (as you can imagine). Being low about it - i started my bucket list. crazy i know...but...

My advice to any one having toilet problems - no matter what age you are at... get checked out - do NOT hesitate. and make sure the Drs order a FIT test.

GET CHECKED WITHOUT DELAY - PLEASE!

You may need to get your doctor to order another FIT test kit - They are only valid for a 14day window from receipt - apparently... (Just check with your Doc)

I'm sure it feels scary but you will be in excellent hands. Do you know what surgical procedure you will be having, and have they firmed up a date for you?

Just an update..

I had the small tumours removed via another colonoscopy... one was 6mm and the other was 13mm and needed "clipping".

Weeks have passed now. And I was sent for radiotherapy as a precautionary measure.

During the Radiographer strikes, I was sent to Sheffield for my Radio and a Scan. They recommended and suggested that I didn't need to go more than 10 courses and I finish my final course and have another scan next week.

During this time.. my world fell apart and I broke up with my FB..

Although.. 1 week later after openly discussing why.. we got back together and seem stronger than anything..

Anyway.. that's for another post.. lol

Life is for living.. !!
