Northern Rail drivers train drivers have today voted for more strike action.

To be honest, nobody will notice the difference, since the service currently offered is so appalling.

In the last two days I have had to twice drive people to make connections after Northern cancellations, and yesterday I had to sit on yet another rail replacement bus for an hour on a journey that takes 15 minutes by train.

Coming back from holiday two weeks ago, not one but two replacement buses meant it took nearly three hours to do a trip that takes 40 minutes by train.

And this is the 'improved' service after a franchise was removed from Arriva in 2020 and Northern was placed under government control.

It's tough up North.

And Northern don't like investing in anything either. They've been promising lifts in local stations for years, but still nothing!

They're not. The government takeover was heralded as an improvement but this has proven not to be the case.
