Texter…… like when a notification pops up on your phone do you have message previews and reply straight away or leave it a while ? Me I’ll reply straight away unless I’m busy or at work

Thoughts please as I'm a inquisitive little bugger

There’s nothing more annoying than someone whose phone is constantly going ‘bing’

Or as a colleague on the next desk used to have .. a quack. How her phone didn’t end up getting smashed to a million pieces I don’t know!

My appeal to any serial texters : turn off the bings!

Anyway, to answer the question, OP.. I rarely get texts so when I do if they need an answer I’ll do it promptly. But it’s so rare I’m in no way a ‘serial’ texter

Depends where I am and what I'm doing.

I often read and then intend to reply when I've got more time but totally forget because the notification has now gone and I've served 20 tables and walked 10 miles since I saw it, rendering seeing it in the first place useless.

I don’t reply to any messages quickly unless it’s from my gf. And even there if it’s not urgent and it’s just humorous then I leave it a bit.

I have message previews for when my phone is unlocked so I usually have an idea of how urgent a message is.

I go days without responding to people just because I find that everyone always seems to message at once and I haven’t the time to reply and converse with 4/5 people all at once or sometimes I’d just rather watch funny videos instead. Then it’s a day later and I have the time and I’m like shit- forgot to reply

Depends who it is and what it’s about.

I don’t overthink it, but if I can reply quickly I will, but if I want to say something more I’ll let it sit until I have more time.

Normaly I answer quickly.

Depends on the conversation.

If it's a quick message from a mate then I'll reply straight away as I'm probably sending a short message back.

I'm fortunate enough to have some friends who send me war and peace type lengthy messages (I am fond of a long one) and those I will leave and respond when I have the time and mental capacity to send an equally thoughtful response back.

Seems rude if someone has spent a lot of time and effort on a message to go back with "cool".

Oh and my phone doesn't ping; it's been on silent since 2016.

Depends on who it is messaging.

If it’s someone I want to talk to, I reply straight away.

If not… I’ll let it sit there for hours, sometimes days.

Also I tend to mirror the person I’m chatting to. So if they leave mine unread/unanswered for long periods of time, I end up doing the same, even if it’s someone I’m really into.

I’ll often turn notifications off so I only find new messages when I open WhatsApp. It can take days or even weeks to reply, even after reading, I can’t alts decide there and then what I want to say and my friends know if it’s important to just call me. Some people really don’t like it but how I use what’s app is my choice
