We confiscated my Dad's car in 2020 because he was unfit to continue. My Grandad was fine to drive till the end of his days (89yrs).

I wish more old people weren't so lonely.

I was thinking tonight actually about all the old people who are alone and have nobody. It's bad enough being isolated when you're young, but knowing you have nothing or nobody when you've got such little of life left makes me sad.

And no I'm not saying all old people are lonely wankers and of course there's people who enjoy the peacefulness! I'm just thinking of the ones I've met or heard of who weren't happy to live like that.

I was thinking tonight actually about all the old people who are alone and have nobody. It's bad enough being isolated when you're young, but knowing you have nothing or nobody when you've got such little of life left makes me sad.

my dad's very lonely since my mum died. He's 95 and does his best to get out. There are so many people in his position and there are clubs etc but they can't fill 24 hours a day

my opinion is that it's so patently untrue that its laughable. I think most of the comments are tongue in cheek and treated them accordingly. For me ageism is me not getting a job that I'm more suitable for than a younger person, being denied access to healthcare or other services, passed over for promotion etc. If this thread is ageism so is the similar one about young people

So the next time someone makes a comment they consider humorous regarding race or another subject thats personal to you, you and the rest of the little band of self appointed forum police will politely remind them to do an equally balanced sister thread to even things out- instead of the usual verbal gang kicking they get...or is there a list of who we're allowed to ridicule that some of us haven't had access to?
