"If u actually want to go off road its gotta be a land rover " Took the words out of my mouth, or off the keyboard at least...... The big question is whether you will actually be using it off-road or not - some (alleged) 4x4's are useless off road and are just a big car, but there are plenty of other big cars out there that are a lot more comfortable. If you are going off road, then Land Rover are difficult to beat.

"If u actually want to go off road its gotta be a land rover " Most 4x4's off road use is putting two wheels on the pavement 'cos the owner can't drive too well. I have to agree re Land Rover, or at least Defender and Range Rover.

"looking to buy a 4x4 anyone have any recommendations of what to buy and what to stay clear of have about £10k to spend thank you" Does depend on what you're using it for and whether you're wanting a more traditional 4x4/SUV style car or a 4wd saloon or estate car. Are you just wanting good road grip in bad weather? Or are you planning on driving up mountains?!

"looking to buy a 4x4 anyone have any recommendations of what to buy and what to stay clear of have about £10k to spend thank you" had every 4x4 you can think of apart from what I've just order'd q7 but for 10k er em you can have a 7-8 year old x5 I had one in 205 I lost 35k after 4years but was a great car at the time ! Think you maybe shocked what you can't get for 10k . Keep away from frontera's had one 17years ago worst ever

"Fair enough, not everyone's taste granted. If we all liked the same thing, the world would be a boring place. " OK. I lied. The Evoque is for those who really, really want a Range Rover in the drive but can't afford one.

" You could argue that point about every car out there you care to mention; possibly even the car you drive yourself." I don't drive, as it happens, but there's no doubt the Evoque says 'third rate' better that just about anything else possibly could.

I don't drive, as it happens, but there's no doubt the Evoque says 'third rate' better that just about anything else possibly could." I love it! You really can't tell what a car is like till you drive it as you can't tell what a woman is like in bed till you fuck her. A good attempt as a post to get a response but but it has more cracks in it than a nunnery.

Obviously there's a lot of wanabees out there then if they're producing a car every 90 seconds and still can't meet demand.

Before and after I've had the opportunity to rate, and slag, all sorts of penis substitutes. The Evoque is right up there with the most obviously appaling of them. I'm sorry if you bought one.

"True about the land rover, but not the best ride on the road. First 4 x 4 i've owned is the nissan x trail, it rides well on the road and the very limited use i've had off road it's done the job. Also very spacious inside with back seats that fold flat to give good room in the boot when needed (though not massively wide boot space tbh.) £10k will get a good model too." We have am x trail just love it and it pulls our 26ft caravam no problem

"If your planning on spending time on and off road I'd suggest what ever you get put some decent all terrain tires on it." Agree with that man Invest in a couple of hours driver training as well (or join an off road club and learn from them) otherwise you will not be getting the best from your motor and may as well buy an X5. As to recommendations from us then it has to be Land Rover all the way. Nothing comes close. For inspiration check on youtube for "grand old history of land rover".

"If u actually want to go off road its gotta be a land rover " You reckon?? There are other full-blown 4x4s out there, which will still be going off-road while the Disco is sitting in the garage, again!!

"Used to have a Nissan X-Trail, never missed a beat and certainly showed a few Land Rovers a thing or two in the bad snow we had a couple of years back. " I've driven both, my normal drive is a 20yr old Landrover Defender and I occasionally drive Dads X-Trail. Now I've not had the X-Trail in the snow yet but have been across muddy fields and for a vehicle with traction control it slipped about a bit, the road based tires didn't help yet the old Landy without traction control but a decent set of all terrain tires had no such problems. There are lots of factors that determine how well a 4x4 copes with snow/mud etc. but the key one is the human factor, put an idiot behind the wheel of the most capable 4x4 and they'll more than likely get it stuck or park it in a ditch.

"You can't beat the green badges ,land rovers " Will fight you on that one lol. Had landrover and Subarus and subs win every tIme. Safer, better on ice and snow, easier to drive and much faster lol. Towing lets them down though vs landrovers but not my problem.
