It looked absolutely dreadful from the first trailer they released. Tone looked way off. Can't think of a company more far removed from the anti-industrialisation rhetoric that is so prevalent in Tolkien's works than Amazon so it's hard to imagine them doing his writing justice

The LoRs books themselves have extensive appendices that detail what happened before and after the rings arrived in Middle Earth.
