I've wanted to change my surname for a ling time but just can't decide on one.

Suggestions welcomed

I'd like to. Hange it because I don't want the family name as I wish to have no connection to it. I do not own it with any pride that's for sure.

Manchester (she/her)

I've wanted to since I was about eight. My name is common and juvenile. (Less common here, but top 5 where I was born the year I was born. My graduating class, nearly one in ten girls in my grade had the same name)

It would break my mother's heart, so I haven't and I won't.

I'd name myself after the protagonist in my all time favourite novel.

If I had been a boy, I would have had my brother's name. Haha.

I wonder what I might have done if I'd been trans - I know what my mother would have named my sister if she had been a boy. Maybe that.

Any notable ancestors, literary figures?

I never changed my maiden name when I was married, because even before we got married, it was like "that's His Name, spelled, I'll repeat that again, here's the spelling" and I was just like, fuck all of that. My surname is common and easy

Bham

I would have liked a more ambiguous name and straight forward.

My name had religious and cultural connotations. I changed my surname a long time ago to my other side of the family but people still need it repeating and spelling so it's a bit of a ball ache.

Those names are either really awful or really don't go with my first name. I'd have to go back further to find one. Though one half of the family that would be very hard to do.

You get used to it. I've recently gone back to my maiden name as I didn't change my name at the time of my divorce. I have to think before I sign anything or give the wrong surname
