Hula hooping

Can anyone hula hoop as an adult? And could you as a child?

I've joined a hooping class, it's bloody hard work

I'm not quite ready to say I can hula hoop but I am much better with a bigger hoop than 1 of those flimsy things we had at school, they do say bigger is better

What other childhood activities can you do now that maybe you couldn't?

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’d probably be better on a pogo stick now than when I was a child; back then I couldn’t comprehend the dynamics of how to perform the technique.

Mind you, I’d still likely fall on my arse now after a hop or two

My mum is on about getting one of those weighted hula hoops she has seen on Tik Tok. Bearing in mind she has rubbish mobility……..

I liked the old style plastic hoops when I was younger.

That would be me too, I could never do then back then and my balance is still shocking

I can manage the big weighted ones but the old plastic ones feel like nothing, can't feel it so I've got no chance

Definitely one of those things I assumed I could still do well.

Like skipping...... Used to skip non stop as a kid.... Now I'm knackered more than a half marathon run after 10 minutes. Seriously set my Garmin to cardio!!!

Come on hips..... Move faster!!!!

I could as a kid I was quite good at it. But as one of my hips is shot to pieces it’s a tad hard now

I hoop. On body & off body tricks. I own about 8 of different weights & sizes. Even have an LED one which looks great in the dark.

It's actually a really good workout and probably the only exercise I actually enjoy.

Definitely easier to start bigger and heavier and downsize when you feel ready.

Is it just on body hooping they teach OP?

Yes I can. I did it as a child then picked one up a couple of years ago and could still do it. It's great fun.

Skipping is a killer, like you I used to skip all the time. Now even the thought is a workout. But it's a good workout.

Move faster is exactly what my hips need to do

I've never been able to run, hated it as a child and my knee and back tell me no. Did try it for a little a while back but I don't find it enjoyable enough.

I’ve a weighted hula hoop. Oh my god it’s hard to get started but once you get it going it’s not too bad. You need to really work on technique!

It's nothing like I thought it was, technique seems pretty easy. Not sure what I'm not getting still

"Never been able to hula hoop, or do a backward roll. "

What about a forward roll?

I thought they were easy until I went to show a child how to do 1 at work and I couldn't do it myself. Think it was the fear of hurting myself as an adult

Can do forward ones ok, but I did 2 cartwheels in row after a night out last summer as my mates just could not believe I could. 1 did only mean to do 1 the 2nd was by accident, but somehow managed to style out.
