Public places to sit and read

I mostly read during commute or in my flat. But my flat is basically a jumbo sized oven when the weather is like this and I find it hard to read. I tried the British Library in Kings Cross London. It was good.

Any other cafes/libraries/public places which you think are good for sitting and reading?

Delightful Bliss

I quite like the park under a shady tree for a book escapism

There’s a gorgeous coffee shop inside the Barbican that I don’t think is too hot. A gorgeous place to chill and read.

Are there any green common areas around your flat? I take a fold up chair into my common areas and read there. (Others sunbathe there, so I'm not alone, except I wear a massive hat and seek shade)

Oh nice. It would be great if it's air conditioned and I don't have to sell a kidney to pay for a tea

There is a big park near me. But lots of friends go around there when it's sunny. Hard to sit there and read without being disturbed. But I am happy to go far to other parts of London. Will look for parks like that

Oh I mean - in the carpark of my apartment complex there's a pitiful area of lawn

During the early lockdowns there would be three or four sunbathers and me on my chair with my book

University libraries are always good. And any cafe with a covered outside space where I can drink coffee and let my attention wander from my book to the world walking past.

It's a lovely feeling to just sit there, read and let the mind wander, isn't it?
