Generation X Vs. Millennials

Jump to newest

Who do you think will survive? If the shit hits the fan, surviving without pre-made meals We had to make everything from scratch, growing our own food. Looking after livestock.

No Internet connection. No technology. No public transport, Communicating the face to face, working to survive.

Generation X was born between 1965 and 1980,

Millennials, also known as Generation Y Anyone born between 1981 and 1996

I don't think it'll fall along generational lines. There are idiots, flakes, cowards - and people who rely on modern civilisation to survive - in every age group.

X I was born millennial

I couldn't date men in my generation. I was raised by my grandparents. Old school hunting fishing general survival skills that people take for granted today. Technology is a scourge sometimes.

I am generation X and if I ever have kids, highly unlikely. I would teach them how to cook and live without technology and conveniences of fast foods. So I would expect them to look after themselves.

Sadly, generation y. Have no respect for generation X. And they don't have respect for themselves, so why should we look after them?

Sadly, with political points of view and law we have soften them up. When I was younger, if I did something wrong, I was disciplined, and I was told to respect my senior. We can't do that nowadays because it's against. Political rights, freedom of whatever.

That's why the world we live in is in such poor condition. Lack of respect and common sense. Greed, etc.

Baby Boomers” anyone born between 1946 and 1964. Most of them just want peace because they're getting old. Will they try to mix in with the younger crowd because? They're getting old. So they will agree with the younger crowd just to fit in.

I was an early gen x and often chat with younger millennials that don't have a clue and no knowledge about anything outside of their jobs. I was chatting to a nurse recently that has degrees and we got on to the subject of pets, I had mentioned that my neighbour has lizards and a few Chameleons, "What's a Chameleon came the reply????" True story and not the first time, I'm finding more and more that the younger generations are woefully lacking when it comes to general knowledge. So there you have it, my opinion, thank god I recently chose to retire early.. x

Why does it have to be a competition? What do you gain from trying to cause division between age groups other than to cover up your clear character flaws and insecurities?

Yeah, I at least remember life before tech took over everything.

I think Z and Alpha are going to have a hard time in life, given the mess that we (Millennial and older) will undoubtedly leave them.

So what you are saying is that one generation did a pretty poor job of raising the next one?

Here we go again. Just for the avoidance of doubt, I am a Millennial (early).

I can cook pretty much anything from scratch, including bread, pasta, sauces, custard (from egg) etc.

I was brought up largely by my grandparents, who did not possess a television set, nor central heating (until 2006, when an oil fired system was installed)

We were poor so were the very last family to acquire mobile phones, computers and dial up internet etc.

I spent my childhood splashing in Lake District lakes, horse riding, yomping through the countryside , picking fruit, making jam, helping at coffee mornings and playing Scrabble.

Would you like a larger spade to dig your millennial shaped hole?

How any earlier generation can wax lyrical about the world before computers and the internet, whilst moaning on the actual Internet, amuses the heck out of me.

My grandparents lived through the "good old days", before running water indoors or vaccines, or NHS, or a great multitude of technological advances. Although they never took to television as a concept particularly, they certainly did not wish to have the world of their childhood repeated for us. A world where parents died of now preventable or curable disease (Grandad's mum when he was 2, Grandma's dad when she was 8). Where Grandad felt the need to join the army at 14 because of the crushing poverty and lack of food at his home. Where if his dad didn't hit the front of the queue at the docks and get labouring work, he didn't get paid and there was no welfare state for a single father of 3 children AND healthcare had to be paid for.

Yeah. The good old days

It totally depends on skill sets. There's going to be plenty from all generations who have the know how to survive the zombie apocalypse, and many more of all ages who will snuff it the moment the WiFi is down for longer than twenty minutes

And there was me, in leafy, suburban south London, toiling away in the fields growing spuds to survive the 80s. Not many people know but The Good Life was a documentary about London life.
