"I had coffee in a Costa near Portsmouth today. We sat at a table next to two rather lovely looking bikers of a similar age to me...one of them made eye contact, smiled a few times & I was aware that he was giving me sneaky side glances. They got up to leave before us- I instigated a conversation by making a joke & we chatted for a moment before they said goodbye & left. I wish I had the guts to have asked for a number...After all, I had nothing to lose! How many other women just let these chances pass them by because it's ingrained in them that men should make the first move? Who is actually brave enough to put themselves out there & risk the knock backs?? " Been there, I know your pain

"Well OP, the moral of the story appears to be .. ladies, make that first move! And with that in mind, my inbox is currently wide open and craving attention. Just sayin’ " Good idea buddy

"Are we still in the stone ages where the guy has to make the first move, I like it when a woman does " I'm recently out of a 22 year relationship & I'm now 49. I don't really know what is acceptable & don't want to look desperate because if I find a guy attractive, I automatically think he's out of my league

"If a guy is interested, he will make the first move " That’s not always technically true. I’ve fancied people before and not approached them because I either wasn’t sure if they were interested or just plain an simple bottled it

Tbh they were both very attractive to me, so if either had approached me, I'd have been made up! There was a little thought in the back of my brain that was imagining me in between both of them!

"If a guy is interested, he will make the first move " What if he’s interested but very shy and doesn’t have the confidence?

Did it once last year after a few weeks of both of us checking each other out on walks. First time since my teens and thought now or never. Started small talk, established interest, deep breath and asked her. Nothing … I’m at a loss with dating / meeting people sometimes
