" sorry to hear that, it's an awful pain. Rest but not to much, gentle movement but don't over do it and if you have any, Tiger balm. It is the stuff of miracles. Ibuprofen helps too. Pxx" I'm allergic to ibuprofen so that's a no go but I'll invest in some tiger balm. Thank you xx

"Butt massage" I'll genuinely take that right now. Even if you meant externally and not internally

"Butt massage" This is true! If you've trapped the nerve, sit on a tennis ball and massage your own butt cheek. If it's sciatica, it's a muscle in your bum pressing on the nerve which is causing the pain, I think. And as HC said, there are a couple of specific stretches to help. But if you've pulled a muscle, ignore the above!

"Oh sweetie! It's a horrible pain. Try not to sit, reclining but not laying flat is better. If you do lay down, roll a towel tightly and put it under your lower back, or pile pillows under your knees. Either will ease the pain. Gentle stretching is a good idea, and walking, but don't overdo it. Don't stand still, if you're standing, rock from foot to foot. I have way too much experience of this! Good luck sweetie" I've got an office chair so I'm reclined and rolling about on that as much as I can. Hippy's kindly send me some stretches which I'm going to do throughout the day. If I need anymore advice I'm coming to you, you sound well clued up!

Don't even recline for too long... take regular standing/walking breaks. Half hourly if you can.

I'll give the tennis ball a go when I get home, I'm currently laid on the floor at work doing the reclining pigeon pose

"Painful stuff. It’s important to do some stretches and not to sit still for too long. I hope it passes quickly. " Thank you

"Go steady tomorrow morning, rather than sit up in bed roll out of bed then hot shower to release the muscles" I've got a long soak in the bath planned for when I get home and I'll take your advice for the morning. It happened last night and, like a fool, I got out of bed normally this morning thinking I would have slept it off. Needless to say, I was wrong

"Have a spin on that chair my friend it will make you feel all the better! Seriously though make sure you keep moving, light stretching and walking should help to ease the pain a little - sending hugs xx" Hahaha me and this chair are becoming good friends, it knows where to touch me in all the right places Thank you

"Keep as mobile as possible! Always thought that sounded counterintuitive, due to the amount of pain it can cause but it definitely recovers quicker that way. " I know what you mean. I've left myself stuff to do do I keep getting up and moving. I hate sitting still more than anything but I know it will be worse if I overdo it

"I’ve done this twice and found the best fix is long walks Some suggest stretching. That could make it worse Some suggest “nerve flossing”. Same thing. Helps some, makes it worse for some Go on a long walk, twice a day" The light stretches I've done so far seem to have helped but walking's doing the trick too. Just scared of overdoing it and going backwards so I'm taking it easy to start with

For me stretching gave relief for 15-20 mins then made it worse. So I stopped. Walking causes no issues so I kept doing it. Stay active, avoid pain, actively chase pain free movements, progress slowly Then once this is all over get really good at planks, side planks and the ab wheel roll out
