1. One of the home counties, Berkshire was recognised by Queen Elizabeth II as the Royal County of Berkshire in 1957 because of the presence of Windsor Castle, and letters patent were issued in 1974.

2. Since 1998, Berkshire has been governed by the six unitary authorities of Bracknell Forest, Reading, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor and Maidenhead and Wokingham.

3. No part of the county is more than 8.5 miles (13.7 km) from the M4 motorway.

Alistair McGowan was born in Evesham and he helped save the regal theatre which is now an expensive cinema (that feels like 3 in one fact lol)

Evesham asparagus is now a protected product much like stilton and champagne

There was some big battle here once.
