"Didn't Paul McCartney only throw his weight behind it when the idea was past conceptual tho ? Either way, a great idea and I hope it brings much needed pennies in " Well, at least he's involved with it. Takes time to get big names to agree to things like this - Band Aid being the notable exception. With the blindingly-obvious Liverpool connection, he would have looked rather too conspicuous by his absence. It's for a deserving cause anyway, so let's hope it does beat X-Factor to it. Perky

"Paul McCartney and others are releasing a charity record to raise money for the "Hillsborough" Families to cover the cost of legal action. The track "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" will be released on December the 17th for the bid of Christmas number one. On the same day the X-Factor single will also be released In recent years the X-Factor has been kept at bay, lets hope it happens this year. I know which one i will be down loading, so lets all give it a push, for money that is very much needed by those who have loved and lost !! (Perky)"

"Didn't Paul McCartney only throw his weight behind it when the idea was past conceptual tho ? Either way, a great idea and I hope it brings much needed pennies in " I think they held his name back till the actual press conference to give it more publicity. The likes of Robbie Williams gave it it's initial promotion when the idea was first announced a few weeks ago. I think the X Factor's record is being released the week before so that they can get it to number 1, having accepted that the British Public have got fed up with a Christmas X Factor Number 1 and the show having lost out for the last couple of years. For those who wish to pre order the song for it's release date you can pre order it by texting the word "Justice" to 80010. It cost £1 and the profits are going to the Hillsborough Campaigns to help pay for the legal fees etc associatted with the hopefully New Inquests. All the artists etc associatted with the record gave their time for free. As a Liverpool fan, and for those who remember the thread associatted with the release of the Hillsborough Independent Panel's findings, I hope this track does make Number One, partly because when I watched Margerat Aspinall on a news report on BBC Breakfast this morning and saw the tears in her eyes as she recounted that her 15 year old son, James who died at Hillsborough had bought her The Hollies, He's My Brother record a few months before the disaster because she kept on going on about it, and when he gave it to her, he'd told her it was the last record he was going to buy for her, tragically it was and it would be so nice if Margerat Aspinall heard this charity track being played on Christmas Day as the nations Number 1, maybe it would bring a little smile to her face. I also can't forget that Everton FC and Bill Kenright chose this track to be played at Goodison when The Toffees played Newcastle while a little boy and girl dressed in red and blue kits one with the Number 9, the other with 6 walked to the centre circle holding hands. 2 clubs united along with a city fighting for Justice for the 96. Please buy the record and remember Justice For The 96. Mark YNWA

"Sorry, won't be buying it. " That's ok Wishy, I didn't expect you to buy it. I remember your comments on the original Hillsborough thread, and while I respect your opinion, I disagree with it. Everyone has the freedom to choose which causes they wish to donate too.

I watched him do the Queen's do outside her house this year and tbh he's past it. Never been a fan of the Beatles either (not because they're from Liverpool before anyone asks), although He Ain't Heavy is one of my favourite songs. I don't see why keeping the X Factor single out of the Xmas No.1 spot is so important to people when you consider some of the crap that's occupied that spot over the years.

You are right about the X-factor, but i feel now that it is passed it's sell by date lol....

" Not a fan of Macca anymore, think he should have bowed out gracefully a while ago. Good grief, I just agreed with Wishy! I will be downloading/buying this, as it is very close to my heart. Cried my heart out watching the merseyside derby recently when they played this, and the mascots wore shirts with a 9 and 6 on the back. Glad big stars like Robbie have got behind it. " I don't think he did that concert but he did do the opening Olympics and he was awful as bloody usual !!!! Whe I saw his name on this thread I thought oh gawd not again so I agree with you over that. It won't stop me buying the song though as it isn't just him singing it. A great idea to raise money
