If you see a series is being discontinued

Before it is even wrapped up, do you waste your time with it?

Sometimes it’s really frustrating when you start watching a show only to find it got cancelled after a season or two.

Some are definitely worth a watch though.

It really depends. Some programmes wrap up nicely at the end of each series incase they get cancelled.

More seasons that had a known plan of how many seasons beforehand (unless they swan dive) would be amazing. Just one series of one well planned is way better than a series that gets dragged out to oblivion.

I really enjoyed Alcatraz, about prisoners from the past who somehow committed crimes in the present day.

Turned out Alcatraz had a time machine thingy which is how it happened, which was revealed in the last episode.

It ended on loads of cliffhangers and cancelled after 20 odd episodes.

I was fuming

Somewhere In The Ether…

Sometimes, depending on if the makers managed to wrap matters up somewhat.

An example being Knightfall which was superb - until it was cancelled- but the makers did at least manage to cobble together a hurried ending (but an ending nonetheless)

Definitely DO watch Deadwood, which was the most perfect television, and Firefly.

Southland, which was an excellent LA cop series.

Pushing Daisies, which only had a season and a half before its axing, but which was sublime.

And G.L.O.W was great too.

I seem to be a curse on this score! Always finding shows I love only for them to be cancelled mainly as they’re American but American audiences don’t take to them! Very annoying

In terms of those I’d recommend of this ilk:

Firefly for sure

Lie to me

Timeless (fans were able to campaign for a wrap up last few episodes but it was a GREAT show)

Quantum leap (that wasn’t the intended ending)

Gilmore girl (ditto)

Travelers

Studio 60 on the sunset strip

The nine

Pushing daisies

I was gutted when midnight texas got cancelled. I really enjoyed that show. Also can't believe Constantine only got one series. Apparently its because of the channel that picked it up

Worthing

Timeless on netflix was cancelled but a special episode was created not longer after to conclude it properly. Hopefully this will be the norm with others.

Why does there need to be more than one series ?

The first series is always the best.

I think all shows should be one series and never made again.

Is it a waste of time to read a book if the author doesn't write a second book of the same title with the same characters in it....... ??? NOPE !

It like most series on Netflix, get cancelled after two or Three season.

I will stop watching if I know it cancelled on a cliffhanger or finishes on a open ending.

Bloody annoying when they get cancelled. Prodigal son was great and also instinct was good, well at least the bringing back Criminal Minds.

Dave Fincher wanted to pursue other projects over mindhunter so the cast got released from their contracts.

There was also a lot of comments about viewership to cost ratio so it doesn’t look like it’ll be coming back

Which is an absolute shame as it’s such a well made and interesting show

I’m still peeved that Beecham House was not renewed after it’s one and only season.

I rather fancy the given the sumptuousness of the production, ITV deemed that the inflated budget weighed up against the ultimately disappointing viewing figures was reason enough to shelve it.

I did read however that the writer is still holding out some hope that the show might yet be picked up by another source.

Here’s hoping….
