I always used to wear shorts when swimming in the pool but switched to Speedo’s and much prefer them now. What is everyone else wearing when you are not skinny dipping?

When swimming Speedos or proper swim shorts, can't understand the hatred towards Speedos.

Women complain but swimming in board shorts is akin to a woman swimming in a skirt.

Board shorts are fine for messing around but proper swimming may as well be wearing a parachute.

I think the hatred is a mixture of male confidence and a historic social pressure to hide the male member. Thank goodness times have changed and definitely agree about proper swimming without a parachute.

I was suprised when I went to France and saw shorts were banned for hygiene reasons, and you had to have tight swim gear. Even had vending machines for them.

They are so strange in France , asked me to leave the pool once, I snook back in and stayed out of sight with my kids but they were right on it and insisted I can’t be in the pool in any kind of shorts , I had to buy speedos in reception for 20 Euro

And rightly so.

Guy's walk around in shorts,go to the bar, shop's etc.. then get in a pool gross.

Shower and change before swimming and after.

People wonder why they get the shits on holiday with all the poor hygiene then have the cheek to blame the locals

Guy's walk around in shorts,go to the bar, shop's etc.. then get in a pool gross.

I get that, but I've seen people doing that in Speedos, and some people could wear them all day under jeans (OK, both are probably a lot less likely than with boardshorts) and some people don't wipe their arses or wash their hands properly and even piss in pools!

You can't force some people into having good hygiene and trying to do so by enforcing a specific style of swimwear seems like the wrong way of dealing with it to me.

I also highly doubt with the amount of chlorine in these pools, that it's people doing this that causes the shits when on holiday.

But,having said that. It's their rules, so I follow them.
