New manager and all that, it may take a few games to get the flow going.

The world cup in December is the elephant in the room.

Injuries, burn out, this season is wide open imo

Only if your playing Fifa lol

No DM to cover the back 4 and large gaps between defense and midfield , No striker to hold ball up to play around

Ooooo yeah not sure on the martial thing!!! Just don't see you getting that many goals. Bruno and ronni are always kicking off and eth isn't the most strict manager around. Might have entered the lions den in a meat dress

McFred isn’t progress.

Where are the signings.

I’m also not sure a 5ft 9 centre back is cut out for this league.

Work needed to be done for sure.

"Going to be a hard season United fans "

Never mind Op, you can have Jesse Lingard after his year is up.

If he plays like he did Saturday - you can have him back & his £100,000/wk!!!

I don't want much - beating Leicester in a home battle game would make my day.

When I watched local news Brendan Rodgers said they couldn't buy until they had sold. They've bought no one...

Never mind the Jamie Vardy chants should cheer you up when you play them!

It’s day one, new manager, things take time. It’s an improvement on the last game they played each other, only half the goals gone in and they scored. It’s a long old season

Anyone getting excited after the first weekend, with WC in the middle, give your head a wobble !

kinda agree with this too its going to be a wierd season for all really they should never of allowed the world cup to be moved let alone played in the country they are in..

dark horse for the season ....spurs they have brought really well as could upset the whole apple cart ....

as a liverpool fan (hubs) it was bed wetter time for some of the so called fans on the liverpool forums ..one game just one game.... testing time for all really as all the team sold very good players ...

one thing i cant belive is harry macguire is still a man udt player look at all the great man udt defenders over the years and then theres harry macguire

Finally, a sensible opinion. What we're forgetting is that this is the essentially the same lot who were utterly wank last season. Ten Hag hasn't really been able to get the players he needs so he has to try an work his system around this shite.

Pep had to the same thing with City, Klopp with Liverpool. Not saying EtH will be on their level but don't fucking write him off after one match against a very well coached Brighton side who will give a few top teams some headaches

The manager of the same Ajax team that made it to the Champions League semis beating Real Madrid and Juve on the way and still managed to do well after selling all their stars. EtH comes with a set way if playing, a structure which is what United have been lacking. Going from Ajax to United is absolutely not the same as going from Fulham to Liverpool like Hodgson did.

"It’s day one, new manager, things take time. It’s an improvement on the last game they played each other, only half the goals gone in and they scored. It’s a long old season

Anyone getting excited after the first weekend, with WC in the middle, give your head a wobble !

Not saying EtH will be on their level but don't fucking write him off after one match against a very well coached Brighton side who will give a few top teams some headaches

alot wrote him off when he was annouced hes from the dutch leauge thats a championship looking leauge not prem and then made worse by adding mclaren its a bit like when liverpool got roy hodgson you just know it aint going to work

What ?! Why adding Steve mcclaren as a coach making things worse?!

It's game 1. Wait til the end of the window to see what players come up, then give it time.

Fixing United is not a quick fix. "

i assumed that mcclaren doing well in the Dutch league shows its not great. That's how I read it.

Looks like a big big job for ETH I bet conte is thinking he dodged a bullet in not going to United however it took Ferguson years to assemble a winning side unfortunately managers don’t get that now for me you need to stick with ETH and let him get the players he wants interesting that they have been linked to a has been from stoke shows how far behind they are at the moment

These players really sent EtH up shit creek. Look good in pre season to show they can follow his instructions and then revert to type as soon as the season starts.

The people on here slating Ten Hag really must have limited knowledge of football if they think he's the problem

he's got bang average players. He seems to try and put these average round pegs into square holes. And no manager can give a team shape when they have Maguire in the team...

There is zero chance he gets 5 years! Basically because the pressure builds up on the owners!

I think his best days are well gone, bit of a sign how poor the current Utd squad is in that they don't want him to go..

His toys will be properly thrown out the pram if this continues and the dressing room will continue to not be a happy place..

Rashford could be away too it seems ..

Pro footballers do what they are told. Sometimes, they are pushed beyond their capabilities, it could be skill or even tactical understanding.

But trust me, they are far better than what they currently show.

Yes. I’m a United fan and this is difficult to watch and follow. But on paper, everything says we should compete in every game we play. But football isn’t like that, everything has to gel for it to work. United had it. Arsenal had it. City and liverpool currently have it.

The whole definition of a supporter is to support. United fans are aweful right now. (Not as bad as city ever were, or Bolton) ). The true fans know this is a transition and it going to be a tough pill to swallow. Liverpool and City took leaps, and we took a massive step back. And we’ve changed everything. Everything. We just moved the Dugout for Christ sake.

But we will still finish above Arsenal.

Is there a team that’s more despised outside of their own fans? There are teams I don’t like such as Liverpool and most London teams plus the usual local rivals, but I reserve my vitriol for this plastic club and their plastic fans.

Imagine the queues outside most sports direct shops tomorrow morning swapping their red shirts for Chelsea shirts.

"Is there a team that’s more despised outside of their own fans? There are teams I don’t like such as Liverpool and most London teams plus the usual local rivals, but I reserve my vitriol for this plastic club and their plastic fans.

Imagine the queues outside most sports direct shops tomorrow morning swapping their red shirts for Chelsea shirts.

Just out of curiosity, why the hate?

Where do you want me to start?

I’ll give you the FA cup argument. I hated that.

All the others…. You tell me United are the only ones to carry those ?? No, they’re not. And o could give prime examples but I can’t be assed.

I was gonna type out a long response going through each point but then I realised... This pretty sums up every big football club. Seems odd to single out United

Other than Liverpool and Johnny come lately fans of Manchester City or Chelsea Manchester United are out there on their own.

I used to enjoy watching the tussles with Arsenal and the treble winning side was great to watch but as time has gone on you’ve lost touch with football and become a brand not a team followed by real fans.

Still think we’ll do well this season. Ten Haag has made some questionable transfers but there’s always gonna be teething problems with new management

Does it? I don’t think so. Your light blue rivals are going down a similar path but it will take a long time before they reach similar levels.

I agree with the brand and not a club thing, it really does feel like that. But Chelsea have bullied refs, other big clubs devalue the FA Cup until the later stages, they all get more time added on when losing. I also hate the term plastic fans because it's used to beat overseas fans with a stick regardless of how invested in the club they are

There is some thought in what you say, but it’s not singled out at the ‘big boys’. And especially just United. The whole premier league teams are all about the brand. It’s just United are at a whol different global level. So like it or not, there’s that jealousy. And bear with me here… it’s the same type of jealousy United fans have right now with the success of City and Liverpool.

But this is going off on a tangent I know, I’m passionate about my team and football. It really is changing for the worse for me. And it’s not just about results.
