What did you have?

I had a Sega Mega Drive and like Ecco The Dolphin & Mortal Kombat.

After that I had a Nintendo DS lite but can’t remember what games I had, except for Mario Kart. That died when the screen stopped working.

Today though I got another one. Need some decent games.

Worked my way through a Sega Master System to a Mega Drive. Recently bought an Amiga 500 mini which is great - most of the games are much worse than I remember, but stuff like Lemmings is superb!

Started with a Sega Master System and frequently played my cousins Mega Drive at theirs.

Moved on to a Snes, PS1-3. Lapsed on the Home console front until I got a Switch. More of a casual gamer to what I used to be.

I also was fused to a Game Boy for most of my childhood.

Erm, a lot. Haha. Yeah... women find this shit attractive here right? Pasty vitamin D deprived lads that still remember special moves, cheats and tricks.

But I went, through, a lot. The sound of sonic suffocating is still seared into the mind.

The little handheld games were great, I remember having a Gameboy and a mini-computer monopoly in the 90's which used to drown out the siblings on long trips in the car.

Before that it was the plastic boxes filled with water where you pushed the button to make the hoops move to the scoring area, or those weird little puzzles where you had one square missing and had to slide it to make the picture.

Kids today will never know our pain lol

OK, let's become best friends.

Seriously I tried getting into the emulator stuff but I haven't wafted into the morally grey area of piracy for so long, I'm, scared haha.

I've had pretty much all of the Gameboys that got released along with a few DS too, but by far the best handheld is the Switch in my eyes.

But DS wise, Mario Kart was amazing, Pokémon games are always a winner or the Professor Layton series was brilliant too.

I always see hand built consoles loaded with in some cases 1,000+ retro games for sale online.

But I'm always wary of them

Yeah I agree with being wary of pre built stuff.

The entire scene feels like the wild west, easy to get taken in with dodgy stuff if you're not too careful or bright.

No need to buy pre builds , plenty of research and you can get there and easily build your own either from a really old pc you have or a raspberry pi laying around,as for the pirates well it is a very grey area, however even the big players like Sony, Xbox, sega, Nintendo all use open source emulators to play there back catalogues of games and also if you have the original cartridge game then you own the right to back it up so to speak

Oh god, you name it, we have it.

My kids were retro game crazy and their Dad bought them consoles from all eras. We even have a Japanese import Xbox lol

My youngest is a game developer now working with the high end technology yet you walk into his flat and he has a PS2 set up with Spyro the Dragon in one corner and the original Nintendo set up with Mario

Totally agree....I've got Addams family, mars attacks and some other great classic pinball tables all on a virtual pinball table and it's not that much different from playing the real pinball tables

I used to go to a couple of pubs specifically because they had decent pinballs (Corvette and Star Trek TNG). We also use to drive miles just to play certain machines, so when I ended up living with one of my mates (and was also fixing the things at the time), I jumped at the chance to have one at home...then ironically, hardly ever played on it

The game he is working on I very much next gen in gaming, from what I understand it is an open world concept that allows you to roam freely and interact with others, like a real life Ready Player One

It's exciting but that is all I know, due for release early next year I believe

Going to make a small fortune from that if you hold on to it for a few more years
