"64 hours with 3, 20 minute power naps in that time. Adrenaline kept me going but by the end I was delirious." It's funny how sleep deprivation affects you. Many ultra racers talk of hallucinations. My memory of my race includes a big section of track past an industrial site with orange sodium lamps glowing in the fog along a chain link fence topped with barbed wire. I picture this clearly every time I think of that night even though I know for a fact the track I was on was crossing the Yorkshire moors with not a single light in sight anywhere Mr

"I think about 72 hours, ish. The odd attempted nap but caffeine put those attempts to bed, ironically. Third year deadlines and poor planning are to blame, I looked like death at the end, literally had people concerned, blurry vision etc. Fantastically stupid in retrospect, slept for 24 hours straight to recover, then I was ill for a week. Joy." Yes you do get sleep hang over afterwards

Two days after I came down with COVID extremely bad and was nearly a goner myself, one of the side effects I had was insomnia. By the end of week 3 from mum's illness and death then my illness and being on the brink I was hallucinating some strange stuff. Only sleeping in 5 - minute bursts every few hours.
