"On a regular basis I watch In the Night Garden; Peppa Pig; Teletubbies; Timmy Time and more. I feel happy when I watch them because I'm with the babies. When I was severely depressed I used to watch cartoons in the mornings. I go back to being 4/5 again, watching Andy Pandy while my mum does the ironing. It's always sunny in the room and I can smell the smell of the hot iron on the cotton. " That's such a clear picture, I can see you there. I went through a phase of watching the things we used to watch with the babies, and still sometimes dip into a Phineas and Ferb or a Spongebob from when they were older. | |||

Any wonder why Caregiver/little or DD/lg type dynamics appeal to so many?!? " I have wondered how much regression feeds into those dynamics. As you say. regression doesn't have to be about negative emotions, but it is often a defence/protective measure. | |||

Pxx" It’s when you give yourself things you missed out on as a child. So a really simple thing to do is to keep a promise to yourself, and it can be a tiny thing. Like, I will come back from my walk and drink a glass of water. Building trust in yourself, giving yourself what you need. | |||

" I still watch Family Guy and South Park. I just remembered I used to watch Roly Poly Oly when I felt depressed too. I felt calm when I watched it. | |||

I suffer from anhedonia so I'm almost permanently in the present. I have all the available options to regress to but never take any of them which sounds weird as when I see it written down but is a fact. " I am sorry to learn of your anhedonia. It seems almost oxymoronic to be here, where people think it is all hedonistic (unless they spend too much time on the forum ). I don't feel that regression, in a low-level way, is living in the past. More, borrowing the tools from then for practical use now. However, I do admire people that can make decisions like that and stick to them. | |||

It's probably a bit like the poster above who put it much more succinctly. I don't go back or forward and just look things in the eye when they appear. | |||
