"Ok money no object, would you goto one of these posh restaurants that gold plate a steak and then charge you around £1000 for it? Even if £1000 was pocket change for me I couldn’t justify paying that much for a steak. How about you? If you are vegetarian/vegan imagine it was a fake piece of meat. " In my current state of mind and situation the answer is hell no. But if I had £1000 spare and wouldn’t miss it I wouldn’t be me, money changes people. So right now no, but I can’t say if things change I wouldn’t.

"Not a chance. I couldn’t afford it but even if I could, that money could make a massive difference to someone else’s life and I could probably get a steak just as good for £50." Not for bog standard steak but if it was one of those Japanese steaks with the marbling of the fat through the meat, then Hell Yes as it would be a once in a lifetime thing.

"Incidentally it’s Wagyu (Japanese steak) and I’ve already tasted it in a burger so hell yes please as a steak " I’ve had Wagyu in a burger as well as in a hotdog and still couldn’t justify the grand. Those cows are massaged by hand though. Crazy.

" I couldn’t justify the price. The best steak I’ve had in the UK was £30 and the best abroad was €25. They were both amazing and I don’t see how anything could be £970/€975 better than that.

"No, there are some very nice restaurants that do the same type of thing for a fraction of the price. The ones that charge that much are usually the type where it's all for show and Instagram and I detest that kind of thing. The most I've paid for a steak was about £130 in Marbella and it was very, very nice. I could actually fly there for the weekend and have that again for less." I’m guessing the restaurant the OP is talking about is that Salt Bae bloke who sprinkles the salt in a weird way. I read an article about a restaurant that copied the entire menu and everything was about a 5th of the price.

"No, doubt it's going to taste much better than one for a fraction of that price." Is it tho ..its the same meat probably cooked the same way its more likely the mark up on price is down to who cooked it and where its served ie top end resturaunt ...for me if money was no object i probably would as i would like to dine in these type of places at least once
