On a few occasions I've gone to look on a profile and found myself already blocked, even though I've not interacted with them yet. What's going on here? Does anybody else block people before they've messaged you, and if so, why? I'm not fussed that I've been blocked, just intrigued by the reasoning. It's probably happened at least twice, if not more in the last couple of years.

I know that Fab blocks profiles for rule breaking, so they can't be viewed. This isn't what happened. These are what seem like genuine profiles. Verified, decent profile pic, also still on Fab etc etc.

Number off reasons

Do you post stats update could be something your posted it will apare in peoples local updates

Things like need my balls emptey or something along those lines could get you a block from people

Do you post on different part off the forums I know your not a loungemite and that’s ok could be something you sed or a post you have posted in

Or they could have all ready viewed your profile in ninja mode and detriment they aren’t for you all ready so blocked so you don’t appare on they serch

People block for all kinds of reasons. It could be they've come across your profile and decided you're not for them, They didn't like something you have written in the forums and decided you were not for them, Could be that you are too local to them As I block anybody who is within 1 miles on the who is near. It doesn't mean anything other than they don't want to interact with you but that doesn't mean others won't or that you've done anything wrong.

You say you appreciate filters and for some that is exactly what the block button is just a filter, whereas as others see it as a last resort.

I have blocked those on the forum (not often though) without interacting with them. If I find their views on life vary significantly from mine that tells me we would not be a good fit.

I am guilty of blocking people before having any engagement with them. I use blocking as a way to filter people I may not be compatible with from their profiles or statuses. If there are some things on their bio which I have no interest in or if they are looking for a certain preference which I am not, I will block so it saves a message so I don't intend disturb them in the future.

Blocking is just another way of tidying up and filtering people I am not likely to be compatible with.

Yeah I understand what's going on now, I get that people use the block button as a filter too. I rarely use the block button, so was wondering what the reasoning was for other people. I get single blokes messaging saying 'suck now' etc. I just delete the message and they rarely message again. I do block the persistent ones however.

There’s a few from the forums that have blocked me without interacting with me. I’m guessing I’ve said something they didn’t like or maybe they just don’t like couples.

I think it's easy to take being blocked as being personal but more often than not it isn't. I always think if I have been blocked by someone I've not interacted with then it just goes to show I would have been wasting my time interacting with that person as for whatever reason I am not their kind of person.

- disturbing posts or comments in Forums so I never have the opportunity to contact that person or visa versa.

- disturbing status updates

-annoying one line messages

- dick pics

- not reading profile

They've gone through their local newsfeed on here and blocked all those who aren't their type and who don't fit what they're looking for.

Sorry to be blunt op but what yourself, and I've found alot of other guys don't comprehend is the fact this site isn't just about you and what you're looking for.

Profile write ups are there for a reason. Use that tool!

Those profiles have blocked you before you have wasted their time and yours.

They do that to access your friends only photos. They want to see what you have to offer before they invest any time on you. If they don't like what they see, they block. Move on instead of wasting your effort pondering on it. You've done nothing wrong

I absolutely do comprehend that this site isn't just about me. Hell of an assumption you've made there. I think it was a fair and honest question to ask why someone has blocked me without any interaction. Now with the comments given in this thread, I fully understand the reasoning behind it.

On the page where it tells you that you are blocked. You still have access to the drop down menu

I can't see that information, but if I could, I may do to prevent them wasting their time messaging. If they are a regular viewer, then gotta support those people haha. I'll get them a nice cake or something

I block people for the following reasons

- unsolicited friend requests

- profiles I’ve seen that I wouldn’t be interested in if they did message

- people I know on here that I wouldn’t want to see my status updates

My profile makes it clear what I'm looking for, anyone who messages that isn’t a match gets blocked - I check profiles when I receive messages from men before opening it, I will block the profile and delete the message unread if it’s not a match

I do open the occasional message if it’s in respect of a forum post I’ve made

I see it as a good thing blocking strangers before interaction as it’s a preemptive strike to stop them wasting their time if they choose to message me

Most of the others I have blocked for sharing my private info with other people and/or sending me unsolicited personal details of others.

Some are simply to put a stop to their fantasy where we are long term friends and they have decided to announce in the forums about how cruel I was to destroy that relationship despite the fact we had exchanged a handful of messages, hadn't spoken in a year and they had been blocked for 6 months before they noticed.

It's absolutely impossible to not show foreign posts from people you have blocked otherwise there would be major gaps in Threads. It also means people could be blocked by lots of people or groups of friends and therefore not be able to use the forum in the same way as everyone else. There are rules in place so you can comment on something if somebody has blocked you as long as you are not using that to get round the block.

When I'm looking to message I'll block anyone that I really don't like the look of so that they don't come up next time I search.

I block for people I know, vile usernames, crap/rude/racist/sexist statuses, year old profiles with "Fill in later", 67 cock pics and various other things.

Not relevant now that I've moved, but I also used to block anyone that had met someone that I know (I didn't want them to know I was on here).

We will block people based on their statuses with no interaction. Examples such as asking for illegal substances, derogatory statements, using words like slut, anything that puts us off in essence

Do you think things should change in the forums as even though a person is blocked they can still interact in here and see the person is online?

It's absolutely impossible to not show foreign posts from people you have blocked otherwise there would be major gaps in Threads. It also means people could be blocked by lots of people or groups of friends and therefore not be able to use the forum in the same way as everyone else. There are rules in place so you can comment on something if somebody has blocked you as long as you are not using that to get round the block.

I'm not sure what you mean. If I block someone and they are using the forums to contact me for example asking why I blocked them Or asking me to contact them then that is in breach of the rules. If they are simply commenting on a thread I have started or a post I have made it's not an issue.

I also block a lot of people based on forum posts. There are certain types of thread on here that are very, very useful for learning people's true lack of respect for other folks' boundaries.

I block lots…for me I find it a good filter. Stops any future contact to/from people who you don’t wish to interact with on here for various reasons.

Other reasons that may be possible to add to all the ones previously mentioned:

They recognise you and dont feel comfortable interacting with you on here.

You look like someone they know and that freaks them out (maybe like an abusive ex)

Yeah I block a lot some ppl seem like they just have way too much going on in their description or they're so jaded from the weirdoes idiots & creeps that's it's not even worth the bother so I as a reminder that I already looked & passed
