I detest Quorn.

There I've said it, and it feels sooooo goooooood!!!

I've persisted for years in trying it in its various guises, but it still tastes like old boot leather soaked in vomit no matter what flavouring they try and disguise it with.

And the texture... just no words to describe it!!!

So I've done it. I threw away what was left in my fridge and I'm hereby declaring I will never buy it again. You have all now born witness to my solemn vow, and I thank you for listening oh great and benevolent support group of Fab

I agree. I had it for 14 years and it was horrid. Better than tofu though

Terrible stuff, gotta agree there. I've found that it sucks all the moisture from cooking sauces as well, leaving the meal way too dry.

Just to clarify... I'm a 'flexitarian'. I have a good healthy diet of omnivorous tendencies. So I do eat meat - but organically/ethically farmed wherever possible. (Trying not to rekindle the vegan thread that rumbled on yesterday )

I guess there must be folk that like it though or they wouldn't still make it huh?

I prefer meat replacements based on pea protein rather than soy/wheat/mycoprotein (although saying that I do really like quorn lol).

But yeah pea protein products have a way more "meaty" texture. Try Beyond Meat or Vivera

Oh gosh yes, Beyond Meat is amazing!

I just get so annoyed with the amount of salt and fat in some of the meat replacement products - would prefer to eat the actual meat that has less of both!

I thought the Quorn chicken nuggets where pretty good. They are great for a quick Air Fryer snack.

I have a reaction to quorn. I get a bit dizzy and spacey and get that sensation when you're looking through binoculars the wrong way.

If I know there's quorn in something I'm prepared for it but when I'm surprised by it I sometimes get convinced I'm horribly ill and panic for ten minutes until the penny drops.

Yeah to be fair I try to just keep them for when I'm too tired to cook properly and want a quick "meat and two veg" type meal.

Otherwise I try to base my diet around more of a Mediterranean approach, with lots of beans, pulses and eggs.

And fries. And pizza. And pasta...
