Why do people have to put people down on here I did a post on here to see how many people would have a go and boy did they it took a bit before people see it was a joke post so I keep my joke profile up

Probably for the same reason that you say you posted a thread to cause controversy.I haven't bothered to green arrow you so I don't know what your thread was about. But if you post wanting people to bite then you can't complain when they do.

I don't understand the trolling mentality myself I don't see why a grown adult gets a thrill out of doing it.But like every thing else it makes for a handy filter on here.

It's far better that people are authentic, post how they want to (without being an utter deliberately offensive cockwomble). Also what is being nice? It's such a wishy washy thing. Along with the #bekind brigade. Everyone goes through different moods, I'd rather people engaged how they want to - whether that's silly, overly saccharine, more prone to debating....

Or posting a long paragraph when they could condense it into a singular sentence.

Even though I did comment on the thread I did think it was a bit insensitive to people who are already struggling with there mental health some people are in darker places in there minds without seeing threads like yours to remind them my opinion anyway

I had seen someone put up a story about a agency worker with no name or places and people had a go about it i didn’t see why that did it I’d just like people to think before that post

Just like in real life, you get people behaving differently. I don't like it when people are full of their own self importance or intentionally confrontational with other people but I do think it's not a common occurrence. I just ignore it and move on and read and read or comment on another post that might be of interest to me - mind you they are usually about cake or food in general

I'm my 1,000 years on the internets I've come to understand that not everything is funny to everybody & just cause one can make friends & family laughter that same one might not be that funny outside that small circle, but I'm with you on the "people should be nice here" part

On me personally no. Online experience however has taught me that lip service is a thing and many people are quick to tell others to be nice or be kind but don't practice what they preach.

My point is not about actually being kind but more about the perception that some people like to create.

Actions speak louder than words.

You're contradicting yourself a bit there. Your OP said "I did a post on here to see how many people would have a go". You can't expect people to be nice if you're deliberately provoking them.

As far as being nice goes then yeah, it would be good but it would also be pretty boring. Opinions are what make us us.

I will be honest. I don't think anything will change. It's easy after a while to see which posts will go south. Avoid them. Avoid certain posters who start threads. Focus on the people who're thoughtful/ funny / positive.
